This is version 3 of the AKdrones Flight Control System. 10 months ago I created the first AKdrones Flight Control System. This is version 3, the AKdrones Immersive Flight Control System. A sunblock tunnel canopy for an iPad and a Moose hat is all I need to create an immersive FPV flight experience without the need for FPV Goggles.
Last summer while flying my drone at Ship Creek I missed recording a pod of Beluga Whales. Because the sun glare was washing out the entire iPad display. I didn't notice the pod of Beluga Whales swimming in Ship Creek until after I returned home and reviewed the video. I decided to devise a solution. Hence, the AKdrones Immersive Flight Control System was conceived and created. (AKdrones iFCS).
The AKdrones iFCS will accommodate small, medium, and large format remote controllers and has an interchangeable display adapter to hold an iPhone, iPad Mini, or iPad 10.2.
The AKdrones iFCS is a 3-point harness flight control system while sitting. With a neck strap and two ”D” rings connected to the system board and vest harness. Standing or walking, the AKdrones iFCS upgrades to a 5-point harness flight control system with a bungee cord wrapped around the pilot's back and attached to each end of the Immersive Flight Control System Board hand-rest.
The AKdrones iFCS includes an Apple iPad 10.2, a display adapter, a sunblock tunnel canopy for an iPad, a DJI Mini 2 remote controller, a DJI Mini 2 RC-N1 Remote Controller Tablet Holder, a stylus holder, a vest harness, a folding camping chair, a 1.5-liter CamelBak hydration bladder, and a bag of trail mix. Ready to fly, The AKdrones iFCS weighs 3.13 pounds. while flying an FAA Licensed Commercial Drone Pilot Safety Vest is displayed on the AKdrones Backpack
The AKdrones iFCS is enclosed in an insulated Fleece Lined Windproof & Water-Resistant System Glove for cold-weather flight operations.
All AKdrones iFCS components are packed and transported in a padded, shock-resistant backpack that weighs 17 pounds.
